''Ready Player One'' is a Sci-Fi novel written in 2011 by Ernest Cline. The plot centers around a open-world virtual reality metaverse that has replaced most other uses for the Internet. The game, called OASIS, provides functionality for entertainment, business, shopping, gaming, and communication.
